So, when I heard tell of this popping up in Surry Hills opposite one of my favourite Sydney eateries, Porteño, I thought someone was pulling my leg. But no. It’s for reelz. Turn up with your favourite bottle of plonk and consume said plonk while a professional artist guides you through the process of whipping together your very own masterpiece* ‘Cork & Chroma’… get it?

Art as leisure. Back to the days of the landed gentry strolling the countryside, easel and brush at the ready. And in an era when it’s next to impossible to coax funding from any of the tv broadcasters for arts-related programming, because it’s seen as far too ‘high-brow’, popularising paint could only be a good thing, right? Just as long as none of the products of aforementioned boozy art sessions ends up on my hotel room wall (see: yesterday’s post).

*term used very, very loosely. Very. Loosely
