Feeling a little sentimental.
Might be the winter weather that’s doing it to me… this used to be the time of year I’d pack up and fly to warmer climes to excavate in Turkey. Or perhaps it’s the pending publication of my third novel which is, at its heart, a love story about a place that’s gifted me most of the most wonderful things in my life. Then again, it could just be the börek I had for lunch.
Yeah – that was probably it. Turkey 🇹🇷 is calling me.
Whatever the reason, I started flicking through old photos and found this – taken from the stubs of the ruined walls of St John’s Basilica in Selçuk – the small town on the outskirts of the ancient city of Ephesus. I took it as I sat there with the man I had just met, the man who would one day be my husband, and we watched the sun set over the Aegean.
My life changed in an instant.
Game, set, and match.
